Araluen of the 1860s is forgotten and ignored. With thousands of people living in this gold mining valley during the mid nineteenth century it is intriguing that today there are few visual traces to indicate past activities.

By excavating newspaper articles of the time it is possible to draw a picture of the activities and the people who lived in the valley detecting an optimistic population fulfilling their ‘utopian’ dream.

These works are a speculative interpretation of history communicated through a language of materials, technê and form in a gentle and poetic translation.
